GUIDELINES
These guidelines have been included to assist members with the basic operational requirements of the AWSA.
The information listed below should provide new members with a basic guide on AWSA requirements, requests and general information.
Annual Membership Fees (inclusive of GST)
- Full membership:
0-25 ewes: $154.00
26-100 ewes: $220.00
101+ ewes $264.00 - Associate Membership: $88
- Junior Member: $77
Junior Member: Under 21 yrs of age and less than 25 ewes in their stud.
Associate Member: A non-breeding member with an interest in white suffolk sheep. May be associated with a stud but not managing the stud paperwork. Associate members receive newsletters, flock book and conference information only.
Full Member: Has a white suffolk stud and is actively involved in managing the stud, including ram registrations, annual returns. An active and financial Full Member is on the mailing list for all information that is sent to members. As a full member, please make sure to register your stud details immediately, or as soon as possible, after completing this page.
Partner Member:
Are partners in the stud other than a spouse. There is no fee payable for a partner member and they will not receive a newsletter. But they will be listed as an active partner in the Flock Book.Membership invoices
These will be issued in March each year, this payment covers a calendar - January to December of the year it is issued.
Membership is payable by April 30th to avoid a late fee.Membership application fees

Annual Returns
Annual Return forms are mailed to all members in March of each year. The information obtained from these returns is compiled into the Associations flock book and permits the Secretariat to maintain accurate data base records.
Registrations & Transfer Fees (All fees inclusive of GST)
Ram registration $5.50.
Ram transfer $11.00
Transfer of previously registered ram to new owner $11.00.
Bulk ewe/lamb transfer $1.10 per any ewe weaned regardless of its age
Semen Transfers $5.50 per package
Embryo Transfers $5.50Flock Numbers
Flock numbers are allocated at the time of flock registration with the Australian White Suffolk Association.
Exhibition of White Suffolk Sheep
Members are encouraged to exhibit and display sheep. Sheep displayed must have a minimum requirement of being second generation and have a minimum of 50% Suffolk blood.
Ovine Brucellosis
Members are encouraged to obtain Ovine Brucellosis accreditation from their local Department of Agriculture.
Newsletter
Three newsletters are published each year - March, August and October
Members are encouraged to submit articles of interest, sales and show results, letters to the editor and advertisements.

Rugby tops, windcheaters, golf shirts and baseball caps can be purchased through the Secretariat. These have as a standard item the White Suffolk logo and an option of your stud prefix at an additional cost.

New members are advised that a Flock Improvement Program is conducted by a committee of white suffolk breeders with the assistance of Lambplan. This is a high performance program that requires participants to meet specific criteria.

The AWSA conducts an annual National Field Day each year, this takes the form of a three day live-in experience and involves sale, show, Annual General Meeting, educational forums and socialising. Specific program and registration papers are forwarded to all members in October or November each year.
Performance Recording
Members are encouraged to participate in a performance recording program. Programs available include, Stockscan, Lambplan and Primescan. For details contact the Secretariat.
